America is a country built on the backs of immigrants and this morning's speaker is THE example. After realizing their future was bleak to continue to live in Poland, Czeslaw (Chet) Poczatek and his wife, Bozena immigrated to America in 1969. Chet says, "Being young, determined and stupid got us out of Poland and into America." A tailor by trade, Chet has a long and successful career with Brooks Brothers and then on his own at Chet's Alterations in Old Town Vestavia.

For myself, growing up with a Polish father, Chet has the humor and resolve that I grew up with. Chet offered a very refreshing perspective on how America is changing. Chet's secret of success is to work 16-17 hours a day, 6-7 days a week and he measures success if your children live better than you. His three boys are all doctors.

Thank you Chet for sharing your experience with the Vestavia Hills Sunrise Rotary.
