The Vestavia Hills Sunrise Rotary Club annually hosts its First Responders Celebration to honor Vestavia Hills’ police and fire departments. The celebration consists of a low country boil, live music, a game truck, and other fun-filled activities. The proceeds from the celebration are used in part to purchase items requested by the fire and police departments. Last year, they donated two drones with advanced photographic capabilities.  Earlier this week, the fire department successfully used these FLIR camera equipped drones to locate and rescue people on the Cahaba River.  They openly thanked the Vestavia Hills Sunrise Club for the purchase of the equipment.  More on this great story can be found on the Vestavia Hills Fire Department’s Facebook page
